1 Corinthians 6:1-8

In Paul's letter to the Church in Corinth, around 56 AD, Paul provided the early church with real world examples of how to address and correct specific worldly problems.  One of these problems was lawsuits.  Paul wrote:

My opinion of Paul's wisdom is just that, it is wisdom.  It is very wise counsel to be held to a higher standard as a Christian and not air our grievances amongst each other in public.  We must also put this verse into context.  Around the time this was written, Rome was undergoing a change in emperor succession as Britannicus, probably heir to the throne, was mysteriously murdered, leading the way for Emperor Nero's reign which began in 54 AD.  The Court system was also largely a political affair.  There was a public mockery that was sometimes made of the litigants and matters.  As such, Paul's words of seeking resolution amongst each other was likely not only a result of the chaotic nature of the throne, but of keeping matters private in order to keep unity in the early church.

I believe Paul's words ring just as true today as they did nearly 2,000 years ago.  In today's world, people are looking for any excuse to call a Christian a hypocrite and satan would love for your family to be destroyed.  That's why private mediation is here, to keep your family unity together, keep the matter private, and find a resolution to move forward in peace and love.
